This year at COP29 Baku, we are proud to have two of our team members attend in person: Jitsai and Rani!
Y4E-SEA at the BRICS IDEAS Pavilion
Y4E-SEA’s first engagement of COP29 was on 15th November at the BRICS IDEAS Pavilion. The roundtable discussion on “Building Strong Youth Energy Engagement in Asia and the Pacific: Partnership between UN ESCAP and Youth” This event provided a valuable space to discuss the continued cooperation between youth energy organizations such as Y4E-SEA and BRICS Youth Energy Agency with regional UN commissions such as UN ESCAP, a follow up event from the kick-off meeting earlier in September 2024. UN ESCAP in partnership with the BRICS Youth Energy Agency and Youth for Energy Southeast Asia have launched a new flagship cooperation project to establish a comprehensive energy youth engagement mechanism in Asia and the Pacific and facilitate meaningful youth participation in energy policy planning and implementation. This will be delivered through a thematic youth-led study which will help identify best practices across the Asia-Pacific region and suggest viable ways of enabling this engagement mechanism as soon as in 2025.
